Vice Admiral William "Bill" Landay

Vice Admiral Landay has over 35 years of proven leadership experience in small, medium and large organizations. As a Retired Navy Vice Admiral, he is currently President of WE LANDAY Consulting, focusing on Foreign Military Sales, International Business, DoD Acquisition and DoD Science and Technology. During his distinguished career with the Navy Vice Admiral Landay served as Director, Defense Security Cooperation Agency; Program Executive Officer for US Navy non-nuclear shipbuilding programs; and the 21st Chief of Naval Research.

 

VADM Landay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the Naval Academy, a Master of Science degree in Systems Technology (C4I) from the Naval Postgraduate School, and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. His personal awards include multiple awards of the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, as well as various unit awards. VADM Landay is a member of the US Naval Institute, the Navy League and the Surface Navy Association.

LTG Guy Swan (Ret.)

General Swan is the Vice President for Education at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and the Executive Director of the Institute of Land Warfare in Arlington, VA. General Swan is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), board certified in security and risk management, and has worked closely with senior officials in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on border security and disaster response issues and during federal response operations and National Level Exercises (NLE). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, FEMA’s National Advisory Council, the Aspen Institute Homeland Security Group, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and is a Life Member of the West Point Association of Graduates, the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), and is the President of the West Point Society of the District of Columbia. General Swan is active on the boards of Clear Path Technologies, Inc., Guardian Centers, Inc., and the Army Distaff Foundation. During General Swan’s 35 year military career, he served as a General Officer for three commands and is a Veteran of the 1991 Gulf War and the Iraq War (2008-09). General Swan completed his military service as the Commanding General of U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) in December 2011.

Mr. Thomas Mitchell

Tom is known for his leadership and ability to achieve top line growth through strategic planning and execution through disciplined processes. Tom was the President and COO of ManTech Security and Mission Assurance Corporation and is currently Managing Partner of Vettem, LLC, providing executive coaching and consulting services in the areas of Strategic Planning, Business Management and Operations, Business Intelligence, Business Development and Acquisition & Due Diligence support. Mr. Mitchell is a retired US Army colonel with an extensive background in special operations, intelligence, cyber, crisis response, consequence management, force protection and critical infrastructure protection.

Mr. Merrick (Mac) Carey

Mac is founder and currently CEO of the renowned Lexington Institute, a public policy think tank dedicated to advancing democratic capitalism and a strong national defense. Previously, Mac was Press Secretary to Representative Jack Kemp, Chief of Staff to Representative James Courter, a member of the House Armed Services and Iran-Contra Committees, and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean. From 1990-1993, Carey was Executive Vice President of the international economic advisory firm Johnson Smick International. Mac also served from 1989 through 1996 as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Naval Reserve and was a mobilized reservist for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also served as an Air Intelligence Officer in 1996 preparing missions and flying with VP-11 in support of Operation Decisive Edge over Bosnia.

Mr. Richard C. Shaeffer, Jr.

Richard C. Schaeffer Jr. is a former Senior Executive with the National Security Agency (NSA). With almost 50 years in the Information Security, Cyber Security, and Intelligence space, Mr. Schaeffer brings visionary leadership, management and technical experience to his client’s challenges. During the early phase of his career, Mr. Schaeffer developed solutions to complex problems, led technical programs and organizations from several dozen to several hundred people, with financial responsibility from several million to over a billion dollars. His last position at NSA was as Information Assurance Director, the defensive side of the Cryptologic mission, an organization of several thousand cryptologic professionals.

Since retiring in 2010, Mr. Schaeffer has continued to pursue his passion for improving the security of U.S. and partner interests in the Cyber domain. He started a private consulting firm, Riverbank Associates, LLC, located in Severna Park, Maryland, providing U.S. and international clients with expert services in the areas of cyber and intelligence consulting. His client base has included a full range of private sector companies from small start-ups, to mid-size companies, to large system integrators and commercial businesses.

He serves on the advisory boards of a number of government, private sector and non-profit companies and organizations. In September 2012, he was named President of the National Cryptologic Museum Foundation, serving today as the Chairman of the Board. He also serves as an Outside Director on the Boards of three companies addressing the concern of foreign investment and control over elements of foreign owned companies providing products and services to classified U.S. Government clients. He remains a strong advocate in the area of cyber education and training, believing that the Nation’s future in the complex world of Cyberspace depends upon a corps of professionals who are well equipped to deal with a rapidly changing technology and threat environment.

Throughout his career, Mr. Schaeffer has been recognized for his vision, leadership, and commitment to excellence. He is known for his strategic thinking, ability to build cohesive teams, political savvy, technical competence, extensive network of cyber and intelligence professionals, and ability to communicate complex topics to any audience.

 

Mr. Robert Flores

Mr. Robert Flores is the Founder and President of Applicology Incorporated, an independent consulting firm specializing in informatics and cyber security issues. Prior to founding Applicology, Mr. Flores spent 31 years at the Central Intelligence Agency where he held various positions in the Directorate of Intelligence, Directorate of Support, and the National Clandestine Service. Before completing his service with CIA, he spent three years as the the Agency’s Chief Technology Officer. During his tenure in this position, he was responsible for ensuring that the Agency’s technology investments matched the requirements of its mission. As CIA CTO, Mr. Flores was also the Agency’s representative on several government- wide information sharing committees and councils. In addition to his senior level leadership and management positions, his career included assignments in applications programming, training and education, contract and project management, and both line and staff management roles at various levels of the CIA. Mr. Flores holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Statistics from Virginia Tech.
